Trionium Leith Hill half marathon

What fun! This has to be one of the best half marathons you can take part in. Tough as nails but as fun as a bag of umpa lumpas!

It’s up up up up and down down down with a few ups. Great scenery, top marshals, brilliant medal, yummy fry up (when you finish) and a very challenging yet fun course. It brought back the big grin while running that I’ve missed over the winter.

Absolutely chuffed with my Inov-8’s, they gave me great confidence letting lose down hill and really helped my fast (for me) time of 1:41:54 – finishing in the top 20% coming in 36th place with an uber sprint finish.

Definitely one to add to your race calendar: http://www.trionium.com/leithhillhalf/

Inov's rule! Served me well... Finished in 1hr 42 mins with a mega sprint finish despite the big mofo hills on route :) Half way point at the top of Leith Hill... View was excellent on such a clear day :)

My feets new best friend…

Ok, so I didn’t think I’d be saying this…

I just purchased a pair of Nike Free 3.0 and they rock! Ok, that statement could just be influenced by the fact that I’ve seen the sun for longer than a glimpse in months – it’s very exciting… Anyways, moving on from my Zoots and heading for barefoot hedonism I decided to go down the Nike Free route after reading a billion (well, maybe) reviews that they were a good step in the right direction to strengthen you’re feet.

I’d love to try the Vibram FiveFingers KSO but I just can’t find anywhere that has them in stock to try. Despite the weather being lovely and sunny today, we’re still in England and still in winter so my feet will stay shod until the weather turns and they can wreak butt naked havoc!

The Nike Free trainers are super light weight, feel snug but in no way restrictive and for me really promoted forefoot striking. I’d even go as far as to say they almost feel like you’re wearing a pair of socks with a thin rubber sole. Nice and flexible and great fun to run in. Good purchase.

Yes… But a little less portable and battery life as usual with the iPhone is a bit of a hindrance. However, assuming you already have an iPhone then for £20 you’ve got yourself all the running (among a number of sports) GPS stats you could want.
