What’s it all about?

Back in 2007 when I moved to London I decided to take up fitness, and running seemed the most efficient way to lose weight. My running life started on the tredmill (they make my stomach churn these days), that swiftly followed by seeing how fast I could run a mile, then 5k, then 10k, fortunately by this time I’d figured out it was much more fun outside. Running moved to sprint and olympic triathlons followed by some grand ideas; Ironman, Leadville 100, Marathon des Sables to name a few. Scanning the web for ultra runs I came across http://www.seeaustraliarun.com – Don Maclurcan ran from Perth to Sydney in just under 67 days with an average of 73k per day, now this sounded interesting. Could I do it?

Inspired by the book Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and my own desire to challenge myself I decided to put my money where my mouth is and go for it.

This website has been put together to document my journey up to and during my Australian advernture which takes part middle of 2011.

What better way to see Australia than to run it and support our nominated charities at the same time.
